Saints have promoted Anthony Limbrick to the job of under-18s coach.

The 30-year-old, who had been the club's under-16 manager, fills the void left after the sacking of Jason Dodd.

Saints stalwart Dodd was dismissed, along with his assistant coach Paul Williams, in May.

The Daily Echo reported at the start of the month that the club were planning an internal appointment for the role.

Limbrick, who has been at Saints since 2010 and who has also coached the under-14s, will be assisted by former Swindon youth coach Paul Bodin "in the short-term".

Academy director Matt Hale said on the club's website: “I’m delighted to introduce Anthony as our new Under-18 coach.

“Anthony joined the club four years ago and has overseen the development of a number of players who he will now work with at under-18 level.

“He has a growing reputation within the game and will relish the opportunity to continue Southampton’s rich history of player development.”
