ODIHAM hockey star Alex Danson opened the scoring as England opened their Commonwealth Games campaign with a 2-0 win over Wales.
Playing in front of the Queen in Glasgow, England totally dominated the game, mustering 16 shots on target, while Wales could only manage one.
However, it took them until six minutes from half-time to grab the lead, Danson finding the net with a fine shot from the top of the circle.
The score remained at 1-0 until six minutes from the end of the second half, when Nicola White doubled the advantage.
England are next in action on Sunday, when they face Malaysia (11am).
