HARTLEY Wintney will look to maintain their push for promotion in Southern League Division Two when Paultons are the visitors this Saturday.

The village side moved up to second in the table after their excellent 54-run victory over Langley Manor last weekend.

This saw them leapfrog Calmore Sports, who lost at the hands of Paultons by six wickets.

Hartley have moved steadily up the table after four straight wins and, with six games left, are very much in the hunt for a return to Division One at the first attempt.

Hartley skipper Jamie Teale said: “It is now crunch time for us as I think Rowledge are going to win the league and so there is only one other promotion place up for grabs.

“We have done well to get ourselves into this position, but there is still a lot of cricket to play.”

For the visit of Paultons, Teale is back to captain the side and wicket-keeper Scott Carter comes in to replace the unavailable Richard Hill.

Leaders Rowledge also won despite Basingstoke-born Hampshire all-rounder Chris Wood making his debut for bottom side OTs and Romsey.

He took 4-13 in 10 overs and scored four in a 53-run defeat as OTs were unable to chase down 175.

Hartley travel to Romsey a week on Saturday, with Wood expected to miss the game as Hampshire should be in T20 Blast action.
