HYDE Abbey A moved to second place in Division One of the Whitchurch Bowls League behind Kingsclere after they shaded Howard Park A 52-47, but more importantly took 4.5 points from the game, writes Norman Figg.

Leaders Kingsclere had an easy 66-46 win over Alton, who look set to return to Division Two along with Alton Social, who lost to St Mary Bourne Hawks 67-43.

Oakley A beat Basingstoke Town 48-47 in a thriller and Littleton Leopards overcame Andover B 54-48.

Whitchurch Yellows opened up a 10-point gap at the top of Division Two, after a 57-46 win over second-placed Oakley B.

Old Basing Cavaliers went third following their 59-50 win over Hook Hares and Andover A beat Marnell B 57-50.

Division Three leaders, Town’s Diamonds, opened up a 17-point lead over Kingsclere Partridges after a 69-27 win in the top-of-the-table clash.

Old Basing Roundheads beat Hook Foxes 54-39 and Town’s Jokers enjoyed a 52-37 victory over Friary.

Andover C continue to dominate Division Four following their 58-39 win over second-placed Littleton Lemurs.

Old Basing Royalists pushed Kingsclere to the basement after beating them 54-40.

Howard Park B moved off the bottom following their win at home to St Mary Bourne Merlins.

Loddon Vale played another friendly against Chawton Park and this time won 117-111.

The winning rinks were skipped by John Holmes (35-14), Ellen Morton (20-12) and Steve Foyle (21-17), while the losing rinks were Brian Ambler (17-14), Sheila Girle (20-14) and Ray Whiteley (31-13).

In the Basingstoke and District Bowling Association Rinks League, Basingstoke Town have gone to the top, ahead of Kingsclere and Oakley.

Old Basing remain unbeaten in Division Two, with Town B and St Mary Bourne taking the next two places.

In the BDBA Triples League, Oakley and AWRE head one half and Kingsclere and Alton Social the other.

In the Central Division of the Stan Hardman League, AWRE still lead despite losing 50-48 to Howard Park A.

Town hold second place following their win away at Odiham.

Hook unexpectedly lost 50-47 at home to Marnell A and Fleet Cygnets beat Thornycroft 58-40.

Cove head the Eastern Division over the two Farnborough clubs, with Hook Emeralds fourth.

The Southern Division is still in the hands of Hook Saphires, with the two Alton clubs in second and third.

Medstead lead the Western division, with Kingsclere and Whitchurch fighting for the second play-off place.
