HOBOS are up to fourth in Hampshire Cricket League County Division Four North after a comprehensive 120-run victory away at Amesbury at the weekend.

Shoib Ali top-scored with 79 as the north Hampshire club made 206-5 before bowling their visitors out for just 86.

AWE Tadley also tasted victory, beating visitors Donnington by 57 runs. Alex Davies made 51 as the home side were bowled out for 177, but the hosts could only muster 120 before their 10th wicket fell.

Hook and Newnham Basics II suffered a narrow defeat away at Lymington II in Division One. The hosts made 263 and while Sam Bruin hit 71, Hook were bowled out for 249, going down by 14 runs.

Darren Turner and Nick Cooper were the stand-out performers as Old Basing claimed a five-run victory over visiting Bedhampton in Division Two. Turner made an unbeaten 83 as Basing reached 150-9, while Cooper then took 4-20 as Bedhampton were bowled out for 145.

Basingstoke and North Hants III suffered a four-wicket defeat to visiting Bransgore, failing to defend their all-out total of 127 despite Ethan Hawkes taking 3-31.

Bottom side Whitchurch went down to another defeat in Division Three North. Richard Osmond made 58 as they were restricted to 147-8 by visiting OTs and Romsey III, who knocked off the required runs for a six-wicket win.

Hartley Wintney II were beaten by hosts South Wilts III in a 40-over match. The home side smashed 282-4 and while Rex Porter made 55, Hartley could only muster 196-7 in reply, going down by 86 runs.

Overton beat hosts Steeple Langford by 29 runs in a 30-over match, making 186-9 before restricting their hosts to 157-7. Hook and Newnham Basics III’s trip to Wellow and Plaitford was rained off.
