Pelle quickly off the mark doing what he does best - scoring goals for Ronald Koeman

Graziano Pelle celebrates his first ever goal for Saints

Pelle applauds a team-mate

Graziano Pelle on his two-goal Saints debut tonight

First published in Sport

GRAZIANO Pelle always scored goals for Ronald Koeman during their time together at Feyenoord.

And the Italian wasted no time doing the same for the Saints boss during a winning debut in Belgium tonight.

Pelle fired 50 goals in 57 Dutch League appearances for Feyenoord in the last two seasons.

Following his £8m arrival last weekend, the 29-year-old striker scored twice on his first Saints appearance in a 6-0 friendly win at Hasselt.

Both of Pelle's goals came in the first half.

Great start, lets all hope he can do the same against world class defenders in the Prem. However Saints MUST score at least 20+ more goals next season so even if Pelle does come good, we MUST get an even BETTER striker in.
With J-Rod out until January, Gallagher not yet ready, Mayuka & Sharp not good enough and Osvaldo ? who knows, a PROVEN Striker is urgently required. Even a season long load like Lakaku or that level who has scored goals in the Prem would be OK if we can't buy one.
A Striker and a LB are the absolute priorities followed by a GK, CB and W.

Thats 5 first choice players still needed before the window closes. They must all be BETTER than the ones we have got to improve the 11 on the pitch and not waste money on players just for cover. The players they replace become the cover.

We CAN afford these FIVE them & RonKo CAN attract them.
There is only four weeks until the season starts but it would be good to have all 5 in over the next two weeks to settle them in asap.

So that is at a rate of TWO per week and one before the season starts, so come on Les Reed who have a lot of work to do in the next 2-3 weeks!!

Very happy about the win and a scoring start for Pelle.

I think that the real test of his ability will come when we play Bayer Leverkusen. All of the other friendlies are against poor, low level teams but we'll have a bit of a step up when we reach that game.

No disrespect is meant to the others, when calling them poor, but as an example, even Eastleigh beat Swindon 2-0 last night and they've not even played a conference game yet!

I think our whole transfer business hinges on 5 players.

Morgan and Dejan - as well rumoured could be off.

New deals for Fonte and Cork - if they aren't offered anything they could also be off.

And Jrod could possibly sign a pre-nup with Spuds based on his fitness come January.

That is worst case scenario for us - and something I don't want to happen.

On the flip side to that - if all the above does happen and approved by Big Ron, then he certainly has put his head on the block in a big way. Could be that is his plan so he can have his own team and be judged 100% on his own merits. That would be a major statement on his part !!!

Either way, season starts in a month and I am looking forward to it.

The 2 games will of loosened up the Players and help them to bond and understand each others creative moves, what is noticeable with photos on the Saints site is Lovren was there sat with Clyne perhaps they both had small knocks and were sitting the 2nd game out, Lovren is looking a bit forlorn but we humans don't always go around grinning like a Cheshire Cat we all have our serious face, the Squad look like they are enjoying working for Ronald and who wouldn't.
There's still another 4 weeks before the game against Liverpool and patients with the Supporters is what's needed to anticipate any additional Players for the Squad, I'm sure the Clubs wheels are in motion 24/7 to be ready for the start of next season and the Club is well aware that additions are needed to ensure total cover for all positions. The Club has always work with diligence and unless a leak of important news is revealed by an insider all the importance of movement of Players are kept within the Club until deals are done and this IMO is the correct way to do business after all the horrors that the Club and Supporters have endured this year, IMO most of the misery was possibly caused by greedy Agents and secret phone calls to Players by Club Managers. Everyone connected with the Club and all the Supporters all over the world are excited about the next season and we all hope the Team will be so good they will be in the top 3 all season and hopefully get up the noses of rival Managers particularly those who are assumed to be the Elite 4/5 Teams because SFC ambitions will never go backwards only onwards and upwards.

A Striker who is BETTER than J-Rod & Pelle is becomming beyond Urgent, but it looks like we have missed out on Ba gone for £8m, Bony going for £18m and Lukaku going on season long loan, all proven Prem goalscorers and the type of player we should have been if for.

Only 3 weeks to our final warm up game to get the FIVE first choice new players in and give RonKo a chance of settling a team. Also no major signing yet to convince Morgan he can progress if he stays here, we MUST NOT let him go as well.

I would dearly love to go and win at Liverhampton but without the 5 top quality new recruits it looks unlikely. Whats even more important is to take advantage of the "easy" first 12 fixtures where we will need to win most if we are to do better than last season.

We have only replaced 2 of the 3 departures so far and and trying to stop another couple from leaving, which is leaving us weaker at the moment, while our rivals are strengthening their squads.

The new first choice GK, LB, CB, W & Striker are required as a minimum assuming we don't loose any others, but another CB & CM might be added to this list if Morgan & Lovren go.

That is at least 5, 6 or even 7 first team players to bring in, so it will take time for them to gel.

I received my season ticket today along with a letter from Ralph which he says "move Saints to an even higher level" next season. Good to hear that Ralph but time is running out and as yet no sign of the 5 BETTER players that are needed to do this.

We CAN afford them and RonKo CAN attract them but you and Les are not giving him a fair chance if you don't sign them soon. You have know the 4 positions that we needed to bring BETTER players in for since Christmas and before you allowed the 3 to leave, bringing that to 7 but only 2 signed so far.

I don't want to post on hear on 1st September saying you have missed the opportunity to improve the 11 on the pitch. You know who the target players so PLEASE get them in urgently and give us a chance this season.

J-rod cant sign anything with spuds. He has 2 years left on his current contract which takes him through to the end of the 2015/16 season. The earliest he could sign anything with anyone without the permission of saints would be the Jan window of 2016 and even then he would have to see out the end of the season. He could do that under the bosman ruling. So you don't have to worry about that happening for a year and a half.
Spider hasn't had face to face talks with Ronnie yet so we wont know what if anything is going to happen with him for over a week as hes not due back until next Sunday. There have been plenty of press reports saying he is in Advanced talks with spuds and arsenil in the last week or 2, but again nothing can happen unless the club allows it, same with Dejan. The club should be putting a better package together for spider hopefully offering him the captaincy. Hopefully they are/will offer font, artur and corky New deals as well but Ronnie will chose what players be wants to keep.
