ODIHAM and Greywell are the latest team to book their place in the last eight of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup, after they beat Hook and Newnham Basics B by 21 runs.

Odiham batted first and made 142-6 thanks to Kieran Munt’s fine 49. Steve Cates took a hat-trick on his way to figures of 3-0, while Kevin Poulter (3-24) also did well with the ball.

However, their performances were eclipsed by Tom Wiltshire (6-30) as Hook could only manage 121-9.

There are two second-round matches next week as Yateley take on St Mary’s on Tuesday night at May’s Bounty, then the following evening Old Basing face Chawton.

The draw for the quarter-finals has now been made and includes the juicy prospect of Basingstoke and North Hants facing Hook and Newnham Basics.

Hartley Wintney will face the winners of Yateley v St Marys and this week’s victors, Odiham and Greywell, take on either Old Basing or Chawton.

The final game of the four will see Stratfield Turgis or Basingstoke Hockey face Ropley or Eversley.

Three quarter-final games have been played in the Finch Group Guy Jewell Plate, with Ramsdell, Sherfield-on-Loddon and Oakley all making the semis.

Ramsdell (130-6) beat Herriard (116-5), while Steve Dummer hit an unbeaten 96 as Sherfield scored 141-2. In reply, Rotherwick ITW made 67-8.

Tom Holbrook (54) was Oakley’s top scorer as they made 149-6 and then limited East Woodhay to 105-7.

The final quarter-final is between Rotherfield and AWE Tadley, with the winners at home to Oakley.

In the other semi-final, Ramsdell entertain Sherfield-on-Loddon for a place in the final at May’s Bounty at the end of August.
