SIMON Ralph produced a fine all-round performance but was unable to prevent bottom side Whitchurch suffering another defeat in Hampshire Cricket League County Division Three North.

Ralph took 4-32 as Whitchurch’s hosts, Hartley Wintney II, reached 239-8. He then hit 86 with the bat, while Dave Mariner made 54, but the visitors came up 32 runs short, being dismissed for 207.

Hook and Newnham Basics III and Overton both suffered defeats.

Hook were bowled out for 156 by visiting St Cross Symondians IV and while Sean Edwards took 4-43, the hosts won by five wickets.

Overton suffered a three-run defeat to visiting South Newton. Lewis Watts took 5-59 as the visitors were dismissed for 154 and the home team came up agonisingly short, being bowled out for 151.

Hook and Newnham Basics II claimed a good 112-run victory over visiting Sarisbury Athletic II in County Division One.

Will Buckingham made an unbeaten 99 and Graham Buckingham reached 68 as Hook got to 244-8 – and Sarisbury never got close, being dismissed for 132.

In Division Two, Old Basing beat Bransgore by eight wickets after dismissing their hosts for 124, while Basingstoke and North Hants III went down by the same margin at Amport after being bowled out for 121.

Hobos enjoyed a comprehensive 208-run victory over Compton and Chandlers Ford II in Division Four North. Imbrad Ghouse top scored with 63 as the Hobos reached 265-8, while Ali Mutaz took 5-6 as the visitors were dismissed for just 57.

AWE Tadley suffered a five-wicket defeat at Hurstbourne Priors, failing to defend their all-out total of 183.
