Youngsters getting their chance to impress Koeman on Saints tour

Basingstoke Gazette: Jack Stephens Jack Stephens

RONALD Koeman is handing some of the younger members of his squad the chance to impress on the pre season tour of Holland and Belgium this week.

Four teenagers who have never played a senior game for the club appeared during the 4-0 friendly win at Dutch minnows EHC Hoensbroek - Jordan Turnbull, Jason McCarthy, Matt Targett and Jake Flannigan.

In addition, five more youngsters - Harrison Reed, Sam McQueen, Lloyd Isgrove, Jake Sinclair and Jack Stephens, all of whom have played competitive matches for Saints, had run-outs.

They were all wearing Saints' new navy blue away kit, which was released last week but has yet to go on sale.

I have seen Sam McQueen on a few occasions, from what I have seen of him,I think he is going to be one hell of a player.

Likewise Harrison Reed and, from what others have said, Jordan Turnbull and Matt Targett.

And Lloyd Isgrove, Jake Sinclair and Jack Stephens are all pretty good, too.

And then there are Jason McCarthy and Jake Flannigan making good progress.

Did I mention Josh Simms or Omar Rowe, or ............

The future's bright!

(Any regular posters make it to the match?)

Was there only one Sam McQueen? Reading the twitter feed last night it seems he was taking corners scoring goals and providing assists all at once!

Hands off Man U

What this actually means in real terms is....that's it, no more players in, so make the most of what you've got.

Did you bother to watch the highlights? The kids were amazing they outshone everyone on the pitch. reed was a terrier, Mcqueen was man of the match, Turnbull and Target were solid, some of the passing and movement was unbelievable we don't need to buy when we have youngsters of this quality, we won't get anywhere by just buying for the sake of it Osvaldo, Ramirez and Wanyama are examples of wasted money though Wanyama is a useful sub but Reed is miles better.these youngsters are the future and if we bring them through together they are less likely to up and leave as they will keep their special bond.
