  • FULL-TIME - Basingstoke Town 1-0 Reading Under-21s
  • Liam Enver-Marum scores the only goal on 35 minutes
  • Multiple changes disrupt flow after the break
  • Pre-season friendly at the Camrose

That's all from me for tonight. Join me again on Thursday, when Basingstoke travel to Hungerford Town.

The second half tailed off a bit with all the changes, but Town were decent throughout and the first-half team did well. Reading's youngsters were disappointing.

Reaction to follow.

Basingstoke Town 1-0 Reading Under-21s

89 - Williams holds off Strassa before firing in a fine shot from 25 yards. Not far wide and it had Moore diving to his right.

88 - A lovely crossfield ball from Mark Ethelston finds Jake Sheppard, but his low ball into the area is easily claimed by Moore.

85 - Not sure what that was all about. Hammal Lawal put a ball into the area and it was going out for a goal-kick.

Moore clearly didn't get a shout and palmed it behind for a corner, which he punched away.

84 - McAuley has a dip from distance. Not one of his best.

84 - A cross reaches Owusu at the far post. It comes to him at a difficult height but that's a decent effort. Not far over the bar.

82 - Basingstoke Town - Mystery Player on for Borj Camacho

So we do have a mystery player after all. I'll see if I can find out who he is after the game. He's tall and has slotted in at centre-back, with Maylen moving to left-back.

81 - Hollamby goes down after challenging for a high ball in the Reading area. Took a knock to the head but seems okay to continue.

79 - That should have been the equaliser. Williams was afforded a free-header from a free-kick but nodded the ball straight up in the air. Terrible.

78 - A couple of good interceptions by Maylen there. Nditi clears at the second attempt.

76 - Nditi is very attacking and gets into the area after a couple of one-twos, but his shot is blocked.

75 - These Reading youngsters aren't used to coming up against players like Owusu. He's built like a tank and shrugs off a couple of challenges to create an opening for Chris Flood, but he cannot hit the target from McAuley's low cross.

73 - Important interception from Nditi to stop the ball reaching Williams on the right side of the area.

71 - Henly makes a flying save to keep out McAuley's effort from distance. Hollamby heads the resulting corner wide.

70 - That's a crunching challenge from Junior Strassa, who is holding in front of the back four.

Just realised Ryan Scott, who did the same job on Saturday, isn't here today. He did well, so I hope he hasn't gone elsewhere.

69 - A terrible pass across the pitch from Nditi sets Reading on the attack. Urbancic lets fly from distance and has Moore worried, but it's past the post.

68 - McAuley lets fly from distance. Into the side-netting.

67 - Good play by Lloyd Owusu, who out-muscles his marker before racing past him. His final ball isn't great but the ball drops for Drew to fire wide.

66 - That's a goal-saving challenge from Hollamby, who does brilliantly to get a foot to the ball when it looked set to break for Williams to have a clear shot.

64 - Good play by Town down the right, but Camacho's cross is headed away before it can reach McAuley.

62 - Reading Under-21s - Tommy Urbancic on for Domanic Samuel

Now we're back on track. Samuel has probably been the best Reading player so far tonight.

61 - A long punt forward from Henly almost gets Harry Cardwell in behind, but his control lets him down.

60 - The corner causes problems, with the ball allowed to bounce in the area, but Town scramble clear and Moore gets up well to claim a high ball. He's been impressive again today.

59 - A mix-up between Shane Hollamby and Borj Camacho allows Samuel to get a shot away, but it deflects behind for a corner.

57 - Lloyd Macklin and Junior Strassa on for Sam Argent and Andrew Jenkinson

So Macklin is the mystery player. Not much of a mystery after all.

55 - A couple of stepovers from Nditi before he releases Chris Flood down the left. Good defending to stop his centre getting through.

54 - A cross from the left finds Josh Drew at the far post. His header causes goalkeeper Jonny Henly problems, but he beats it away.

53 - Argent is denied by a fine last-ditch tackle as he looks to get in down the left channel.

50 - Nditi goes for a cheeky lob from distance. Well over but a nice idea.

Seems Reading may not have stuck to the script. Samuel, who played in the first half, certainly remains on the pitch. No Tommy Urbancic.

One of the Reading officials says that's the only deviation though.

Seems Reading may not have stuck to the script. Samuel, who played in the first half, certainly remains on the pitch. No Tommy Urbancic.

To clear it up, just three members of the Town starting 11 remain on the field, goalkeeper Moore, Jenkinson and Argent.

48 - Williams lets fly from distance, but Moore gets everything behind it.

46 - Nditi's first action is to skin Dan Williams, but his pass up the line is terrible.

Town get us back under way. Pleased to say the sun has gone down behind the houses, so I can see again.

45 - Basingstoke Town

On - Camacho, Nditi, Hollamby, Maylen, Drew, Flood and Owusu.

Off - Smart, Bird, Rice, Agebane, Dunn, Williams, Enver-Marum.

Comedy moment of the evening as Williams emerges from the tunnel and is soaked by the sprinkler.

Looks like Town may make a few changes of their own at the break.

Reading are due to completely change their team at the break. If they stick with that plan, the second-half team will be as follows.

Reading Under-21s (second half): Henly, Sheppard, Ethelston, Collins, Warity, Urbancic, Williams, Jules, Watson, Lamal, Cardwell.

Town have been in almost total control for most of the half and could be further ahead.

Soares is just limping back to the changing rooms. Let's hope his injury isn't too bad.

Basingstoke Town 1-0 Reading Under-21s

45 - Dunn is penalised for a foul on Fosu, but Reading elect to take the free-kick quickly and the chance fizzles out.

43 - Good run from Simon Dunn and he almost plays Argent in, but the pass is cut out by a last-ditch challenge.

42 - Basingstoke Town - Shaun McAuley on for Louie Soares

Soares hobbles off and is replaced by McAuley. Shame for Soares as he had been playing well. Hope that's just a precaution.

40 - Town have a player down getting treatment. Looks like Louie Soares.

39 - That's a really ambitious effort from Fosu. He almost put it into the car park from 35 yards.

36 - Samual looks to find an instant leveller, but his shot from distance is never troubling Moore.

35 - Basingstoke Town 1-0 Reading Under-21s - Liam Enver-Marum

That's a really nice goal. Williams releases Smart down the right and he beats McClennan before putting in a low cross that LIAM ENVER-MARUM flicks in neatly.

34 - Good challenge from Bird to stop an attack down the Reading right.

33 - McClennan plays Bogdan Vastsuk in down the left, but Rice is across to clear the danger.

30 - Decent ball in from Reading left-back George McClennan, but Agebane clears the danger. The centre-back does well again seconds later, preventing Samuel turning in the box after a low cross.

29 - Reading have been second-best so far, but they have had a couple of decent passing moves of late. No end product though.

26 - Another close shave for Town. Soares puts a free-kick into the six-yard box and Robbie Rice almost bundles the ball in.

25 - Fosu crosses from the left, but Moore makes an easy catch.

24 - Dickie is back on, his head bandaged up Terry Butcher-style.

23 - That's the best chance yet. Reading fail to deal with the corner and Argent gets up at the back post, but he heads wide.

22 - Soares puts in a good low cross and it takes some good defending to stop Enver-Marum getting on the end of it.

22 - We are back under way, but Dickie is still getting bandaged up. That's Reading's first real attack on note though.

They break and Noor Husin plays Dom Samuel through, but Moore is out of his area quickly to mop up the danger.

20 - Reading defender Rob Dickie is getting some treatment after taking a blow to the face.

19 - Smart crosses, but it's just too high for Enver-Marum.

18 - Argent is showing some nice touches out there and a decent piece of skill gives Bird the chance to cross, but there's nobody attacking his low ball across the six-yard box.

16 - Nice play from Williams gives Jenkinson a pocket of space behind the Reading midfield, but his ball towards Argent is straight at a defender. A wasted opportunity.

15 - Smart lets fly from distance. Plenty of power but Lincoln gets his body behind the ball.

14 - Another nice Town move involving Tom Bird and Soares results in Argent picking the ball up on the edge of the area. A couple of stepovers make room for a shot, but it's too close to the goalkeeper.

12 - Williams crosses from the right and Lincoln's punch is far from convincing. It doesn't clear the penalty area, but his defence manage to smuggle the ball away.

10 - Better from Reading, but Tarique Fosu's run is ended by a tackle from Enver-Marum, who's tracking back.

8 - Town have settled into the game really well and are playing in the Reading half. Jenkinson lets fly from distance and goalkeeper Dan Lincoln can't hold it, but the rebound evades Manny Williams.

7 - That's a lovely Town move and Smart's low ball in is just about cut out before Liam Enver-Marum can get on the end of it.

7 - Andy Jenkinson takes it left-footed, but that's well over. A bit of a waste.

6 - Another good run from Soares, and he is brought down as he looks to cut in from the right. A dangerous free-kick.

5 - Nathan Smart drives into space down the right, but his shot is wayward, to say the least.

4 - Nice lively start by both sides. Town are playing a midfield diamond again and Soares drives into space before firing in a decent shot that flies not too far over. The 'keeper was worried.

Reading get the game under way. They are shooting towards the Town End in the first half, facing into the sun.

And here they come!

The coaches are making their way across the pitch to the benches and the players congregating in the tunnel. Not long to wait now.

The players have retired to the changing rooms to make their final preparations.

The sun has just moved a bit lower. It's now directly in my eyes. Pre-season problems. Not a issue on gloomy November afternoons.

Here's what Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson had to say after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Basingstoke here at the Camrose.

It's a warm, sunny evening in Basingstoke. Great news for the supporters, but with the sun setting on the other side of the pitch, I can barely see out of the press box windows and it's like a sauna!

Basingstoke Town: Moore, Smart, Bird, Jenkinson, Rice, Agebane, Dunn, Soares, Enver-Marum, Argent, Williams. Subs: Camacho, Maylen, Hollamby, Nditi, McAuley, Macklin, Flood, Owusu, Drew, Strassa, Green (gk).

Reading (first half): Lincoln, Owusu, McClennan, Shaughnessy, Dickie, Hyam, Vastsuk, Husin, Samuel, Kelly, Fosu.

Two changes to the Town starting 11. Romeo Agebane comes in for the injured Jay Gasson in central defence, while Louie Soares replaces Shaun McAuley in midfield.

Couple of new faces on the bench. Former Chelsea left-back and Basingstoke lad Adam Nditi is one of them, but Junior Strassa and a third player, who just appears as a question mark on the 'team-sheet' are a bit of a mystery.

Reading will field different teams in each half.

Good evening and welcome to live text commentary from the Camrose, where Basingstoke Town are taking on Reading Under-21s in a pre-season friendly.
