Ronald Koeman intends to keep an English core to his Saints side.

The club’s success last season was built partly on a strong domestic flavour to the team, and the new manager intends to carry that on.

“Yes, it’s important, like any league in another country, that you keep that mentality in the squad,” he said.

“Foreign players, ok, we need that, because they are talented and good players, but the body of the club, of the team, has to be English.”

Koeman also intends to continue the Saints philosophy of promoting from the academy and giving young players a chance – something he did so well at his previous club, Feyenoord.

“There’s a lot of potential (at the club),” he said.

“You see that in three or four days.

“We have great talents who have to show still all their qualities, but I’m the manager and the club is in this philosophy that they look at opportunities to come into the first team.”

Unsurprisingly, given his professional career, roko seems to be very PR savvy. He's saying all the right things. Early impressions of him are very encouraging.

Maybe a couple of the new recruitment's will be English then.
Forster ? for one, Ings or Wickham ? possibly, plus LB & Winger ?

CORE should be ENGLISH.

When word of Ward Prowse was spotted shopping at BANK - you could sense the AMBITION of a SAINTS PLAYER who wants to go even further with his development with SFC. COYR+WS

A Young English core with a Dutch flavour would be brilliant.
Young academy players coming through and buy these two English players; GK - Forster; Striker - Danny Ings.
Then add some of RonKo's former club Feyenoord for CB - Stephen De Vrij and Jordy Clasie to add to our strong midfield. Terence Kongolo could also be worth a punt for the future.
It will be difficult to get Aston Villa to sell Ron Vlaar now but Daley Blind for LB would be a great signing giving RonKo the option of playing Hollands three man defense option.

I believe that RonKo can attract most of these five players, and we could afford them all young and therefore a great investment.

Get on with it Les, we need them in quickly to form a settled side and hit the ground running.

Excited or what !! COYR&WS

Home Rule for England says...

English players have served us well. We need more English talent. Saints players are the best. If Hodgson had played Lambert and Lallana together there is no doubt in my mind that England would have won the World Cup.
