Saints are hopeful of completing a deal for Graziano Pelle over the weekend.

The 6ft 4in striker is one of Ronald Koeman’s top targets this summer and the new Saints boss has revealed that a transfer is nearly finalised.

He said: “It’s close but still not signed.

“We hope maybe this weekend to have him as the second new player of Southampton.”

Saints have already brought in Dusan Tadic and should have plenty more captures this summer.

Basingstoke Gazette:

“I don’t talk about money,” said Koeman when asked about his transfer budget and plans.

“We are looking to all the positions in the squad and we are happy we have Tadic as a new player and the situation about Pelle is we are near to having another one in the team.”

On Tadic he added: “Lallana is a great player in his position with some other possibilities.

“Tadic is a great player, who scores, who makes assists, I know him very well from the competition in Holland and he’s very similar in the qualities of Lallana and he’s a great player for us.”

Good to hear Ronald Koeman announcing NO southampton players are for sale and is hopeful of keeping Lovren too.
Also good to have a Saints manager giving a press conference in English.

Feeling more positive everyday. The new management team are quietly, confidently going about business is a professional and competent manner. One other point, sorry its off topic but RK is holding up the new shirt. The new away kit released yesterday with a different name on it. Veho saying its the brand name for their new go-pro type camera. They decided to use it obviously because they want to advertise it, but also because it looks better on the shirt than their main name. Sorry if this is a little thing that pleases little minds, but I find this fantastic that we have a sponsor that would care about this. Well done Veho :-).

The want away players behaviour is disgraceful and weak.
Want them along side you in tough times??? best shot of them if money is the only motivator. I said before, Champions league and ambition starts with unity and fighting for the cause on the pitch....
Do I sound bitter? ...theres a reason for that!
And yes I really want to see Liverpool in particular slip down into the mediocre ranks...maybe 8th would be sweet.
Given the recent turmoil, survival this year is probably quite an ask, so we still need at least a couple more quality players to sign and hopefully, without the same mentality plaguing us through next summer we may be able to build instead of re-build.
That said, we should also have learned more about Katerina & co by then and hopefully I'll need to change my alias.

Any player we get after that as to be seen as an addition to supplement a squad with depth. Unless the 3 wannaways go then we need to replace them and start looking for a squad wit depth once again.
The best season ever kicks off in August with a chance to see Liarllana humiliated.

What a brilliant video. We have a top manager who will do great things for our club. I felt that he speaks from the heart and tells it as it is. I’m totally confident that he'll bring in more quality players and blend the youth with the more experienced players very successfully. It looks like our youth academy will improve even further and the future for our club is secured for many years. Even if we lose the occasional player, there is no need to panic. I have read some of the mixed comments about Lovren. There is a possibility that he will stay and I feel that, despite his dreadful behaviour, that we should all give him a second chance – if Ronald Koeman wants him, we should support him. Worse situations in football and life generally have been patched up and forgotten about. On the other hand, if it proves to be impossible to keep Lovren, then we need to accept top dollar for him and find a replacement. I think Morg will stay now and he will join in the delight of our new signing(s) with many more to follow.

Apart from Pelle's goal scoring and general play, the added bonus is he speaks very good English.

I hope he does sign, can't wait for Tadic, Ramirez, Ward-Prowse and Clyne to start pinging the balls onto Pelle's head.

He could well get 20+ goals for us this season.

The name you are using is an insult to the memory of Saint Markus and it is also an insult to Katharina and her family. Katharina has already proven for years since the loss of her dad that she wants only the best for Southampton FC. It would have been very understandable if she had sold the club, but she didn't. She stuck around and we are very fortunate and should be very proud to still have Saint Markus's daughter as owner of the club. Katharina decided to continue what Saint Markus started. In my book, that makes Katharina one of us, a fan of the club, a true Saint.

You obviously seem to be a Saints supporter, so please give thought to the fact that Katharina has already been a good, supportive owner of Southampton FC for years, including providing money to the club when necessary. Katharina does not have to attend Saints games, but she does. just like Saint Markus did. He cared about Saints and so does Katharina. The Liebherr family continues to be a breath of fresh air for the club and we fans. My respect for Saint Markus and Katharina continues being earned.

I therefore have absolutely no respect for the very poor taste name you have unwisely chosen to use, so I am now asking you very politely to please change it immediately to something that disrespects nobody.

I call on true Saints fans to give me a positive vote for this post in the hope that it will help a fellow fan who has a poor taste name to smell the Liebherr roses and quickly change that name to something dignified.

Up the Saints!!!

IMO there was to much familiarity last season with the Manager and the Players and I've always been a firm believer it breeds contempt and this has been proved for all to see, this season the Players have Ronald Koeman a very different type of Manager, a highly respected well known throughout the world ex Player who will probably be loved, approachable, loyal and respected but will keep a distance between him and the Players to show them he is the Gaffer as Players like to call there Boss, Ronald is a very confident and will project this to his Players and the Club, he has been successful since he first played Football and has learnt from The Special one Jose and Johan Cruyff and others to enable him to Coach and Manage some of the well known Clubs in the world.

I am delighted and I'm sure so are all Saints Supporters that the Club recruited Ronald as it proves the Club are still ambitious and want to continue in the only direction to go and that's onwards and upwards and whatever the outcome of Lovren Ronald because of his experience knows of Players who he believes will be good enough for the Premiership as do all the Club Scouts if Lovren does leave, IMO European Players if they are very good Players are better to buy because of the climate they adapt instantly compared with South Americans Players not to undermine Gaston who is a fantastic Player or any other world class South American, I could be bragging when I say that people throughout the world who love Football when the name Brendan Rodgers is mentioned they say WHO but mention the name Ronald Koeman and they shout with delight and leap 10 feet in the air, well I did COYR

You mean you've not learned enough yet!
What the hell more is she supposed to do?
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just say the alias is foolish!

Agree 100% with the sentiment of your post, there is however 1 little fault with what yous said.
Katharina has only been the owner of saints for 9-10 months not years.
After St Markus died the club was, for want of a better word, owned by the trust he set up to ensure the club was safe for at least a few years. This trust had 1 board member and that was NC. NC was also the only board member of the holding company, so he was effectively his own boss.
Katharina took over ownership last year and wanted a seat on the board, NC didn't like this, spat his dummy, and quit.
Absolutely agree though, since she has taken over she has done little wrong and nothing to receive the abuse some people have given her.

el caballo santos101,

Thanks for your words and point taken on something I already knew. I was hoping I would be permitted some leeway because Saint Markus obviously knew that his large estate would take some while to sort out. Yes, of course Nicola Cortese was in charge of the trust, but Katharina was the actual beneficiary. The main thing is that Katharina is continuing what Saint Markus started.

Well guys and gals,

I hear what you are all saying and I admire the optimism...truly.
I chose the name in a moment of hurt but frankly I'll need August 2015 to arrive with a settled ambitious quality squad before I'll hold my hands up.
The 2 signings look great, and I hope its just me but I don't yet have a warm feeling about Mr Krugger (is that better?.... ;-P ) And KL.
We were no closer to Champions League than we were to Relegation zone...hey thats OK so don't get me wrong.
But that puts us in a similar position to Hull, Villa, Stoke e.t.c and they don't appear to have had players spitting the dummy out to leave.
So ... is this an exceptionally bad group of players with regard to attitude or is there something deeper rooted at the club? Some even believe its all to do with Cortese using contacts to stir things up. That source was fairly close to the club believe it or not.
Back in the day of Terry Curran, Malcolm Waldron, David Peach, Austin Hayse who all used to put in a good shift things were far simpler.
