HOOK and Newnham Basics II produced a good all-round display to beat their counterparts from New Milton in Hampshire Cricket League County Division One.
Kevin Light top-scored with 73 as Hook made 212 with the bat, while Colin Lye took 4-24 and Glen Williams 3-16 as New Milton’s reply ended on 110, giving the home side a 102-run victory.
Basingstoke and North Hants III claimed a seven-wicket victory away at Compton and Chandler’s Ford in Division Two after restricting their hosts to 99-9.
Old Basing were bowled out for 99 and went down by eight wickets at Amport.
Hook and Newnham Basics III restricted visiting East Woodhay to 178-9 in Division Three North, before completing a four-wicket victory, with Sam Bruin making 49. Hartley Wintney II, Overton and Whitchurch all had their games called off.
Tadley Hobos enjoyed a 61-run victory over visiting Holybourne in Division Four North. Imbrad Ghouse top-scored with 59 as the Hobos made 180. Holybourne’s target was reduced to 144 because of rain but they were bowled out for 83.
AWE Tadley went down to a nine-wicket defeat at home to Liss. Stephen Hartwell made 56 as Tadley reached 200-9 and Liss chased down their rain-reduced target to win for the loss of just one wicket.
