Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists he is determined to hold onto rumoured Saints target David Marshall.

Saints were linked over the weekend with an £8m swoop for the Scottish international stopper, while there is also reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Celtic.

Ronald Koeman has made a new keeper one of his summer transfer priorities, but Solskjaer is optimistic it won’t come at Cardiff’s expense.

“David was excellent for us last season, the best goalkeeper in the Premier League,” said Solskjaer.

“I am hoping to convince him to stick with us. It’s up to me really to sell the idea of what we are going to be trying to do here next season and beyond that.

“Sell my philosophy to him if you like. I know he likes it at the club and is settled in the area, so we are hopeful he will be with us next season.”
