France knocked out of World Cup by Germany as Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin watches on from the bench

Basingstoke Gazette: MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN

MORGAN Schneiderlin’s World Cup dream is over.

He was the last Saint standing at the tournament but watched on from the bench as France were beaten 1-0 Germany in this evening’s quarter-final match.

Mats Hummels’ 12th minute header was the difference between the two sides.

During the group stages of the tournament Schneiderlin made his first start for Les Bleus and impressed in the 0-0 with Ecuador, playing the full 90 minutes.

Come home Morgan. You've always been a class act for us. Would be great to see you captain the next generation of this club. The board have drawn a line in the sand regarding players leaving, so now is the time to move forward at last.

I agree with your words , but just out of interest I think Brenda has got it all wrong as Morgan is the one player that would have slipped into his team nicely, and would have been an ideal replacement for Gerard. He (Brenda ) has bought another mid fielder in can. Plus he want Alexi Sanchez! how many midfield players do they need? Morgan is a real star I really hope he stays, we have got used to him around the place

Hello Les it,s Arsene Wenger here. I'd like to do your club the great honour of selling Morgan Schneiderlin to us. Out of respect I've held back until France are out of the WC. Actually it' s a whole one minute and 27 seconds now, so I think that is long enough. Anyway we've decided that we aren't prepared to pay a penny over £12million. Take it or leave it. And be warned we've watched you stitch up those dopey wannabe northerners over Adam Lallana and now you are trying to do the same to them with Lovren. That isn't going to happen with us. We aren't desperate to get him you see.
Les?
Les are you still there?
Les Reed Yawn. Yes I' m still here
OK OK let's call it £15 million shall we but don't push it. £16 million then. What do you say?
We want £25 million Arsene
Don' be ridiculous. That's your valuation not ours. Don't you know who you're dealing with?

Agree Malcombe

I'm not feeling 100% optimistic either, same for Lovren as well.

But if we can keep these two it would feel like new signings and hopefully set us up ready for new players to come in.

By the middle of next week I think we will be announcing plans and players in.

When it comes to the Saints and 55 years supporting them, I get to be a very bad sport when "our" players get bolshie (?) and want away.

So with no apology, I hope all the gone-always get a jolly good booing when they come back in other colours. They let us down, and if it is money, they should at least try and get a better deal with the club before offing.

Obviously, NOT RICKIE - Saints' legend!!!

So, it's goodbye to Morgan.

One of the posters suggested he is on £9,000 a week. An absolute fortune to a pensioner like me or you're average working man but nothing in the Premier League.

If we are really paying this sort of fee then, dare I say, we can hardly expect to keep some of the best players.

We all know what the top players in the big Clubs get, but are we quite clear that we are well in their with the slightly smaller clubs in paying wages that demand loyalty

I think what I am saying is that Arsenal come along with £20k per week and your current team offers to match it then it really looks like have been taking the mickey from your players. The consequence of that is the Player would be virtually forced to leave, if only for his pride, if he felt that his club was underpaying.

And that's before the Agent starts whispering poiion in his ear.

You mean like Kevin Philips & 'Arry did? That's probably not a good idea.

Anyway, there's no point wasting your energy on them, give Rickie a respectful clap, then just focus on supporting the team you've loved for 55 years.

We all want Morgan to stay but he is coming back with an enhanced reputation to what ??
Not one but all three of our England World Cup stars sold and our Croatian one following them. With 4 of our best players gone and as yet none have been signed he will be looking at the squad and thinking that it will be weaker next season so now would be the best time to move on.
Who would blame him ?

I accept that money is a factor but I believe that it is the players AMBITION that is making them decide to go.

Nicola Cortese promissed them this when they all signed their contracts, but that dream has now disappeared. Morgan, as with the other 4 departures have all proved that they can play at CL level so they are leaving to get it.

As much as we want Morgan to stay and be captain it would be better for his career to go to Arsenal.

Also he is unlikely to want to meet our new manager, as with the other four, he may be convinced to stay if he does.

Unfortunately I think we must accept that he is off.

It would have helped if we had signed 3 or 4 players by now, we all know that we needed these to add to last seasons squad before any departures and have now had a month knowing that the others were leaving.

It seems Les has spent most of his time selling than buying.

We have been very slow, reports on Pelle & Tadic coming are now over 2 weeks old so whats taking the time ? We are also about to miss out on Steven Caulker who at £9m for a furtue England CB & captain is a bargain. Why have we turned down Cardiff's offer for Jose, we should have used him to get Caulker.

So with 3 gone & 3 (Morgan, Lovren & Osvaldo) going we need to replace then with equal quality just to get back the last seasons level and at least another 3 to improve it.

That's 8 or 9 top quality players required and as at today none signed !
I accept that this is not an easy task and we must NOT waste money buying mediocre players as our academy can fill those support roles, but they should not have been allowed to leave, at least until their replacements have arrived.

So come on Les and the board we need them all in early to hit the ground running and give Ronko a chance.

Keeping Morgan though, would be the best signing we can make.

COYR&WS lets get moving.
