SHERBORNE St John Youth FC were presented with the Charter Standard Club of the Year award at the annual Hampshire FA awards evening held at Southampton Football Club St Mary’s Stadium.

The club, based at the Chute Recreation Ground, has teams from under-seven through to under-17 with the majority playing in the Peter Houseman Youth League and were awarded their Charter Standard in 2011.

The FA Charter Standard kitemark is awarded to football clubs who provide a high quality football experience.

They are proven to be well run with the priority on child protection, quality coaching and safety as paramount.

Charter Standard clubs have an annual FA healthcheck with an unannounced inspection visit.

The latest award is the club’s second Hampshire FA trophy as they won the fair play award in the 2012/13 season.

During the past season they were awarded the Peter Houseman Fair Play award for their under-11s and also took overall Fair Play Award across all Peter Houseman Youth League divisions.

The club prides itself in doing things the right way and respect leaflets are given annually to parents, players and coaches to promote good behaviour within the club.

A Charter Standard club is an excellent bench mark for parents wishing to introduce their boy or girl to organised football.

Sherborne St John are currently recruiting players for the forthcoming season and are looking for a new group of five-year-olds as well as additional players for their under seven, eight, nine, 10 and 11 sides.
