HARTLEY Wintney GC captain Jamie Hobdell made the most of home advantage at the club’s pro-am.

Adams was joined Swanmore Golf Centre professional Martin Adams, Nick Palmer and Ian Fitzpatrick for the team event and the quartet played some excellent golf to win by three shots, finishing on -19.

Nick Redfern (AIA Group), John Comfort, Trevor Jessett and Steve Baker were second, a further three shots ahead of Alan Lovelace (Merrist Wood), Tim Southern, David Smith and Jim Chadwick.

The professional event saw a tie at the top of the leaderboard, with Redfern and James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent) sharing first place after shooting five-under-par rounds of 66.

Rob Gowers (South Winchester) and Mark Treleaven (Hayling Island) tied for third with two-under-par rounds of 69.

In other Hartley Wintney news, Cheryl Scott won the Ladies Club Championship at her first attempt, a 36-hole total of 165 (+21) seeing her beat second-placed Deirdre Randell by six shots.

Jackie Keay was the winner of the nett competition with a score of 157 (+13), two shots clear of second-placed Linda Turner.

Bradley Walsh amassed 42 points to win the June Monthly Stableford, beating a field of 124 players. Mark Chandler was one point behind, his level-par round of 71 earning him 41 points off a handicap of five, while Roly Newman was third with 39.

The competition saw Neil Frost hit a hole-in-one, finding the cup with his six-iron at the club’s 174-yard ninth hole.

The Watts Cup was won by Duncan Bailey, with a nett round of 67 (-4), one ahead of Michael Odell, with Paul Shannon finishing third.

Odell also finished as runner-up in the Centenary Medal, his nett round of 67 again one off the pace as Mark Turner claimed victory. Craig Spence claimed third place on countback, beating five other players, including Nick Mault, who enjoyed a hole-in-one on the 160-yard 17th.
