HARTLEY Wintney CC captain Jamie Teale is looking for his side to keep their winning run going in Southern League Division Two this weekend, when they face a visit from Totton and Eling II.

The village side’s two wins in the space of two weeks have seen them move up to fourth spot. They are now right in the promotion shake-up and want to stay there.

Hartley are expected to field the same 11 that beat Calmore Sports last Saturday.

Teale said: “We have won three games on the trot now if you count the t20 as well.

“We have played Totton seconds in the past and know them well, but being at home we want to keep our winning run going.”

Totton seconds recorded their first victory since the opening day of the season on Saturday, while Hartley enjoyed an excellent 31-run away win at Calmore Sports.

Opener Jack Hersh continued his superb form as he top-scored with 65, well supported by Danny Plume (45). Batting down the order, Teale made 46 as the visitors totalled 226-7 from their 50 overs.

Calmore, whose only defeat before the weekend had been against early leaders Rowledge, started well, reaching 71-1, before Mark Teale (3-33) reduced them to 78-4.

The home side recovered as James Rose (53) and Tom Peglar (36) added 62 for the fifth wicket.

Ari Karvelas (2-48) removed both of them and then two wickets for Jack Cockram saw the home side’s hopes slip away as they finished on 195-8.

Teale was delighted with the victory and said: “We were the first team to score more than 111 at their place this season and I was happy we could defend 226.

“They had a couple of partnerships but we managed to break them and, in the end, they fell short of their target.”
