REX Porter hit an unbeaten century for Hartley Wintney in Hampshire Cricket League County Division Three North.

Batting first, East Woodhay reached 247-9, with Louis Lynch taking 3-29 for the hosts.

However, while opening batsman Porter was in top form, he didn’t get the support he needed, ending up on 103 not out as Hartley were restricted to 200-9, losing by 47 runs.

Overton and bottom side Whitchurch also suffered defeats. Overton were unable to defend their all-out total of 133 at home to Steep, losing by five wickets, while Whitchurch were beaten by 110 runs by visiting St Cross Symondians IV.

The visitors made 228-5 and, while Dave Mariner made 75 in the Whitchurch reply, the other five members of his side’s top six were dismissed for ducks as the hosts were bowled out for 118.

Hook and Newnham Basics III did manage to win, beating visiting Littleton and West Hill by 14 runs. Defending 152-9, Barry Goodman took 5-37 as Littleton were dismissed for 138.

Hook’s second string did not fare so well in their Division One game at home to Purbrook.

Kevin Light made 58 as the hosts were dismissed for 178, and Purbrook knocked off the runs to secure a six-wicket victory.

Old Basing enjoyed a four-wicket win away at Rowner in Division Two. Nick Cooper took 3-37 as the home team were restricted to 158-9, before top-scoring with 45 in Basing’s successful reply.

Basingstoke and North Hants III went down to a 103-run defeat away at Cadnam. Harry Smith took 3-70, but the hosts made 271-6, while Basingstoke were bowled out for 168.

Hobos recorded a win over Hurstbourne Priors in Division Four North, restricting their hosts to 178-7 before getting over the line for a six-wicket win, with Imtijaz making 71.

AWE Tadley lost a close game at Alton III by two wickets. James Lovegrove made 69 as visiting Tadley were bowled out for 205 and while Mike Burt took 3-25, Alton limped home with eight wickets down.
