Ramirez the hero for Uruguay but Suarez 'bite' claim dominates famous win

Gaston Ramirez tonight stepped off the bench to make himself a Uruguayan hero.

The £12m Saints creative midfielder was thrown on as his side desperately tried to break the deadlock against ten man Italy, knowing only a win would see them through to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Ramirez delivered in some style as, just three minutes after his introduction on 78 minutes, he whipped in a beautiful inswinging, left footed corner that picked out the head of Diego Godin.

The defender powered his effort into the net to give Uruguay a 1-0 victory that takes them through with Italy joining England as unlikely victims in Group D.

Ramirez’s involvement did not end there though.

The game has sparked a huge controversy after it was claimed that Luis Suarez bit the shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini.

As Chiellini raced up the pitch to show the referee the alleged bite mark, ripping his shirt down to reveal his shoulder, Ramirez trailed him trying to pull it back up and cover any potential evidence.

There is sure to be a FIFA investigation into Suarez’s actions, but after his starring role Ramirez could benefit if the Liverpool man ends up banned from action.

I only hope that Fifa can impose a worldwide ban that includes al levels of football. my concern is that they will give him a token international ban of a few games, zidane got a 3 game ban for his headbutt in the 06 final. the question is then, do fifa consider a bite to be worse than a headbutt? I think most sensible people would say yes, but this is fifa and they think its sensible to hold the next 2 world cups in homophobic countries with awful human rights records. both, oh and one of them in 50 degree heat!
perhaps they will ban him for a few games then insist he wears a muzzle for future games.
suarez obviously has problems and has had all the help available to prevent this from happening again, yet on the biggest stage in world football he does it again.
cantona got a 9 month ban for attacking the crowd, I expect at least that length of ban as a minimum.

Ban = no sale, no loan out. = expensive psycho at large with nothing to do (should blend in with the general theme of the city).

Either way they can't afford Lallana any more, can they? Oh it's an ill wind........... as they say outside of Skiverpool.

All the current reports indicate that Suarez will get a lengthy ban from FIFA as the world is watching. The man is a physco and just doesn't learn, it's all very well being competitive but he has just turned this World Cup into one that will be remembered through this incident. He says that this has all been blown up through the British press, rubbish I am in the US at the moment and the US World Cup coverage was all about Suarez last night, they were disgusted and were demanding FIFA take action.
It was disappointing to see Gaston trying to cover up the bite marks as he obviously knew what had happened.
Once again the world of football is rocked by this man and I really hope he gets a massive ban and Liverpool will face the impact as they will be mid table next year because of his crazy behaviour. They should offload but they won't just as they did last time. The world is watching the outcome from this and it's going to get ugly for Suarez and Liverpool.

Suarez revelled in England's demise, claiming it was revenge for the way he has been portrayed by the country's media ( mainly over previous biting incident) then he goes and loses the plot again. The boy needs help and a very long ban to help him reflect. It probably won't happen as FIFA can be relied upon to be as toothless as Suarez is toothsome. And, Gaston didn't exactly cover himself in glory, seeking to cover up the bite marks on the Italian's shoulder. Certainly not the act of a "hero".

Denplan must be lining up sponsorship for Suarez as we speak. The man is an undiagnosed Werewolf and if he plays another game in this tournament we will start see players wearing American football shoulder pads. It would be like watching a back four in Joan Collins 1980s wardrobe.

There is enough photographic and video evidence now to put Suarez in prison for assault and battery not to mention cannibalism. If this gets swept under the carpet it will be a global disgrace openly shielded by the football authorities.

Gaston does no credit to himself in trying to cover it up either. As for being a hero, he took a corner.. FFS they are easily impressed in Uruguay, or is this just a DE contrivance to get a Saints players name in a headline !

Suarez should also be fined, stoned and waterboarded for the extreme acting that followed the offence when he tried to make himself look like the injured victim. Has anyone told him there are cameras everywhere ? He really is one dim little mofo and quite frankly is an absolute disgrace and should simply be banned from the game permanently. End of.

Having chilled a little after my initial rant and expressing my absolute disgust at the practice of biting in a football match .. is it really any worse than flying in with studs up and breaking someones leg, or headbutting someone, or elbowing someones head when jumping to head a ball ? Unless the Italian gets rabies, or isn't up to date with his tetanus jabs, he really isn't at too much risk of permanent injury is he? I know I know Im starting to go all liberal, but its worth thinking about. I wouldn't want my deep rooted prejudice and extreme dislike for Suarez to make me biased. Alicesdad

Bet he'll be chomping at the bit to get started again, once his 38 game domestic league ban is over.

Or "Bugs bunny returns and then returns again" This problem would be easily resolved if FIFA and Skiverpool has all his teeth removed.
