ST MARY’S beat Dummer by 41 runs at May’s Bounty on Tuesday night to reach the second round of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup.

Tom Lee top-scored with 81 and Marc Minikin chipped in with 33 as St Mary’s reached an impressive 201-4 from their 20 overs, with A Ballard taking 3-20 for Dummer. George Mann did his best for Dummer, hitting 71, but they were restricted to 157-9.

The previous evening, Oakley made their exit from the competition, losing by 12 runs to Chawton. Oakley restricted the opposition to 128-5, but could only make 116-7 in reply, Adam Robinson top-scoring with 33.

The second round gets under way at May’s Bounty next week, with Hartley Wintney taking on Whitchurch on Monday, and Eversley playing Ropley the following night.

The draw for the first round of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Plate has been made.

Herriard will host Ramsdell, Sherfield-on-Loddon travel to Rotherwick, Rotherfield Park host Dummer, while Oakley will take on either East Woodhay or Basingstoke and North Hants.
