TONY Glass was on form with both bat and ball as Overton III claimed a three-wicket win away at Old Basing III in Hampshire Cricket League Division Three North East.
The all-rounder took four wickets for the concession of just five runs as Old Basing were restricted to 150-8, Arjun Miriyala top-scoring with 50. Glass then hit 86 as the visitors got over the line with seven wickets down.
Shey Bradley hit a century as Silchester enjoyed a comfortable victory over visiting Holybourne II. The hosts made 211-3, with Bradley’s unbeaten knock of 103 one run more than the entire Holybourne team could muster as Silchester won by 109 runs.
Hook and Newnham Basics IV also claimed a good win, beating hosts Easton and Martyr Worthy II by eight wickets.
Youngsters Ollie May and Alex Stewart took three wickets each as the home side were dismissed for 100, while Nick Harding guided Hook to victory with an unbeaten 54.
Former first-team captain Scott Baldwin helped Hartley Wintney III to a four-wicket win over visiting Aldershot V.
Aiden Parker took 4-4 as Aldershot were dismissed for 106, while Baldwin hit 61 in the Hartley reply.
Bottom side Herriard II did not fare so well away at Aldershot IV, losing by five wickets after being bowled out for 83.
Overton II went down to an eight-run defeat at home to Colden Common II. Kevin Silverwood took 4-17 as the visitors were dismissed for 157, but Overton could only muster 149 in reply.
Table-toppers Ramsdell II saw their home game against IBM Hursley II abandoned due to a wet pitch.
Oakley remain top of Division One North after extending their 100 per cent record to four games with a three-wicket win at home to Basingstoke and North Hants IV. Basingstoke were bowled out for 141 and while they took seven wickets, Oakley managed to get over the line.
Kingsclere also boast a perfect record after they beat visiting Odiham and Greywell by two wickets in a low-scoring game.
Chris Hanney took 5-27 and Keith Enters 5-34 as Odiham were bowled out for 61, but the visitors made a decent attempt to defend their low total. Ross McGaughrin and Robert Walsh-Smith both took three wickets, but Paul Gundry guided the hosts over the line with an unbeaten 18.
Mark Williamson enjoyed an exceptional day with the ball in Ashford Hill’s victory over St Mary Bourne.
The bowler claimed a hat-trick on route to figures of 7-18 as the visitors were dismissed for 72. Mike Softley then top-scored with an unbeaten 33 as the hosts won by seven wickets.
Herriard enjoyed a 16-run victory over visiting Littleton and West Hill II. Grant Good made 57 in Herriard’s total of 165 and while Littleton’s target was reduced to 154 from 37 overs, they were dismissed for 138.
Ramsdell bowled out hosts Shrewton II for 91 on their way to a six-wicket win, while Sherfield-on-Loddon went down to a 199-run defeat at Winterbourne, being restricted to 175-8 chasing 256-4. Old Basing II’s trip to Longparish II was rained off.
All three local sides in Division Two North suffered defeats.
Tom Lee hit 61 at St Mary’s were bowled out for 194, but visiting Petersfield II got the required runs to win by seven wickets. Rotherwick ITW were dismissed for 109 chasing hosts OTs and Romsey IV’s total of 219-3, while Odiham and Greywell II were bowled out for 104 chasing 174-7 at home to Steep II.
Odiham and Greywell III fared much better in Division Four North East, beating hosts Hungerford II by 71 runs. David Hiscock made 70 in Odiham’s total of 180-6, while Justin Shaw took 4-25 as Hungerford were bowled out for 109 in reply.
Ashford Hill II got the better of Herriard III thanks to a fine all-round display from Mark Ridley.
He took 4-54 as Herriard reached 167-8, with Adam Warner making an unbeaten 97. Barry Monger finished with figures of three wickets for six runs from his 10 overs.
Ridley then hit an unbeaten 76 to guide the visitors to a five-wicket victory.
Jack Dancer his an unbeaten 87 as Whitchurch II made 153-5 at home to AWE Tadley II, who were then bowled out for 141 to lose by 12 runs.
