READING will begin their 2014-15 Championship campaign with a trip to Wigan Athletic on Saturday, August 9.
The fixtures were released this morning, with the Royals facing a difficult away game on the opening day, three days before they host League Two side Newport County in the first round of the Carling Cup. Their first league game at home will take place on August 16, when Ipswich Town will be the visitors.
The Christmas period will see Reading travel to Brighton and Hove Albion on Boxing Day, before hosting Norwich City two days later, while their final game of the season will be a trip to Derby County on May 2.
Royals fans will be hoping that they have new owners by the time the season starts, with Thai investor Sumrit Bunditkrisada the current front-runner to buy the club from Anton Zingarevich.
