OAKLEY sit top of Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division One after maintaining their 100 per cent record with an eight-wicket victory over hosts Old Basing II.

Neil Robinson took 3-37 as the hosts were restricted to 113-9 and Oakley made light work of reaching their target, Adam Robinson smashing 61 as they got home for the loss of just two wickets.

Sherfield-on-Loddon beat visiting Basingstoke and North Hants IV by 41 runs. Simon Grant made 60 as the hosts reached 141-4, while Phil Mitchell took 4-15 and Grant 4-23 as Basingstoke were dismissed for 100.

Odiham and Greywell recorded a six-wicket victory over visiting Longparish II. Becky Hartnett took 3-7 and Josh Poole 3-16 as Longparish were restricted to 94-8, before Chris Anderson hit 51 as Odiham got home for the loss of four wickets.

Herriard did not fare so well, going down by 49 runs away at Shrewton II. The hosts made 215-7 before bowling Herriard out for 166.

Ashford Hill’s trip to Bentworth, Kingsclere’s game at Littleton and West Hill II and Ramsdell’s home fixture against St Cross Symondians V were all abandoned due to rain.

All three games involving local sides in Division Two North fell victim to the weather. Odiham and Greywell II’s trip to Chawton, Rotherwick ITW’s home fixture against Langley Manor III and St Mary’s game at Steep II were all washed out.

Ramsdell II sit second in Division Three North East after a five-wicket victory at Aldershot V. The hosts were bowled out for 135 and Dave Monger hit an unbeaten 54 as Ramsdell reached their target for the loss of five batsmen.

Overton III enjoyed a three-wicket win over visiting Basingstoke and North Hants V. Chris Shaw took 4-15, James Goodall 3-17 and Tony Parker 3-31 as Overton dismissed the visitors for 91, and while Gary Watts took 3-21 in the hosts’ reply, they got over the line with seven wickets down.

Silchester and Herriard II suffered defeats. Silchester lost by 74 runs at Colden Common II, being bowled out for just 46 chasing the home side’s total of 120, while bottom side Herriard were thrashed by Easton and Martyr Worthy II. The visitors made 300-2 before bowling Herriard out for just 66 to complete a 234-run win.

The match between Old Basing III and Overton II and Hook and Newnham Basics IV’s trip to Otterbourne were both abandoned, as were three of the four games in Division Four North East.

Herriard III’s trip to AWE Tadley II, Oakley II’s home game against Hungerford II and Odiham and Greywell III’s home fixture against Crown Taverners II all fell victim to the weather.

Whitchurch II made the short trip to Longparish III but were beaten by five wickets. The visitors were bowled out for 75 and while Alex Brinton took 3-18 in the Longparish reply, it was not enough to prevent the home side coming out on top.
