CHINEHAM racing driver Chris Mohan made an excellent debut at Rockingham Speedway as he collected a couple of podium finishes in his class.

The driver had to learn the circuit during qualifying, which was cut short after two cars left the track.

This left Mohan 24th out of 30 cars on the grid, leaving him with a lot of work to do.

In race one, an excellent first lap saw him jump up seven places, and he moved up to 15th by the end of lap two.

He continued to work his way through the field and was fighting for 12th spot when his race was ended after a dramatic flare out from his exhaust saw the car lose power and he was forced to park it.

The fault was found to be the failure of a MAF sensor and it was disconnected for race two, with the decision being taken to race with limited power.

Mohan this time started from 26th on grid and was expecting to have moderate involvement in proceedings, but he had a super race as he finished 12th overall.

This also saw him take third in the Class B of the VAG Trophy and second in class of the Mk4 Golf Gti/Tdi Championship.

Mohan returns to action at Snetterton next month, where he achieved a podium in his first outing in the car last season.

The Chineham driver is looking for sponsorship to help him have a real chance in the championship, Anyone who can help is asked to contact Mohan by email at chrismohan_145@hotmail.com.
