THE Robinson brothers took centre stage as Oakley beat visiting Odiham and Greywell by 69 runs in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division One North last weekend.

Adam Robinson top-scored with 77 and brother Neil hit 63 as Oakley reached 236-7 batting first. Neil then took four wickets, as did Dan Sumner, as the visitors were bowled out for 167, with Jean-Pierre Kustner making 66.

There was another local derby at Sherfield on Loddon, where the hosts went down to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Old Basing II. Malcolm Curtis took 5-37 as Sherfield were dismissed for 157, with Keith Timms hitting 54 as Old Basing got over the line with four wickets down.

Ramsdell beat hosts Herriard by 68 runs, defending their all-out total of 175 by bowling the home side out for 107.

Kingsclere claimed a four-wicket victory over Shrewton II, thanks in part to Ben Hardy’s haul of 5-16 as the visitors were dismissed for 126.

Joe Oates was unfortunate to be on the losing side as Basingstoke and North Hants IV went down by two wickets to visiting St Mary Bourne. The all-rounder hit 67 as the home side were dismissed for 154 and then took 3-31 as St Mary Bourne scraped home with eight wickets down.

Ashford Hill suffered an even narrower defeat. Having restricted visiting Farley to 151-6, Mike Softley hit 49 but his side were dismissed for 148 to lose by three runs.

Paul Buckingham smashed his way to 93 as Rotherwick ITW claimed a six-wicket victory over Liphook and Ripsley II in Regional Division Two North, having restricted their hosts to 210-8.

Odiham and Greywell II also tasted victory, beating visiting Medstead by 81 runs. Peter Hodgeson made 69 as Odiham were bowled out for 196, while Chris Wiltshire took 3-32 as Medstead were then restricted to 115-8.

St Mary’s lost by 79 runs at home to Chawton, being bowled out for 153 chasing the visitors’ total of 232-7.

There was a thrilling finale to the match between Silchester and Old Basing III in Regional Division Three North East. Spinner Jack Brench, pictured above, took 5-24 as Old Basing were bowled out for 148, but while Oliver Dodd made 61, Ambrish Vyas’ haul of 5-28 helped the visitors to a three-run win.

Hartley Wintney III enjoyed a 21-run victory over Basingstoke and North Hants V. Gary Watts took 4-23 for Basingstoke but Tim Soper’s 62 helped Hartley reach 186-9 from their innings. Jonathan Rowe (5-33) and Andrew Davies (3-36) then starred with the ball for the hosts as Basingstoke were dismissed for 165.

Overton II hosted Overton III and Mike Lawrence made 54 as the seconds reached 203-8. The thirds were only able to muster 121, losing by 82 runs.

Hook and Newnham Basics IV and Herriard II both lost. Hook went down by 52 runs at home to IBM Hursley II, being bowled out for 142 chasing 193-9, while Herriard were restricted to 109-9 at Otterbourne, a total that the hosts chased down to win by seven wickets.

Kurt Good took an incredible 7-4 as Herriard III beat Longparish III in a low scoring Regional Division Four North game. Herriard were dismissed for 82, but Good’s heroics ensured that they won by 29 runs, bowling the visitors out for just 53.

AWE Tadley II enjoyed a comprehensive 144-run victory over Ashford Hill II.

Ram Patel hit 67 and Andy Stead 63 as hosts Tadley reached 238-6, with Dan Hyland taking 4-51.

Ashford Hill were then bowled out for 94, with Peter Strickland taking 3-4.

William Maclennan took 6-31 as Whitchurch II were bowled out for 114 by Odiham and Greywell III. Simon Ralph took 4-24 in the Odiham reply, but they got home to win by two wickets.

Oakley II’s trip to Crown Taverners II was cancelled.
