I'm afraid for many thousands of Saints fans who have been looking forward for months to the World Cup with great pride and enthusiasm, the whole thing has just suddenly gone flat. It's as if we landed in Sao Paulo and got mugged of everything - tickets and all - on the way from the airport.

Better days soon we hope.

Rickie Lambert on the bench. Well you'll certainly see that written most weeks next season, while he sits there counting his money. Only coming on during League Cup games or when the manager has decided that the best chance of a goal is for someone to dive and get a penalty.

Palestine beat the Philippines 1-0 this afternoon to win the Asian Challenge Cup and qualify for the Asian Championships next year... now that was a game where you could see what it really means to wear your country's shirt!
