Manchester United set to make attempt to resume talks with Saints over Luke Shaw transfer

Basingstoke Gazette: Luke Shaw in action for Saints Luke Shaw in action for Saints

Manchester United are today expected to try and resume talks with Saints over the potential transfer of starlet Luke Shaw.

A bid in the region of £27m is believed to have already been turned down by the board at St Mary's, but United are keen to land the left-back as part of the major surgery to their squad this summer.

United would like a deal to be concluded before the World Cup, although Saints want to wait until the tournament is over and they have a new manager in place before proceeding with anything.

Rickie Lambert's expected transfer to Liverpool this weekend has heightened United's hopes that they could also quickly complete a move for Shaw.

However, Saints are understood to feel under less pressure to deal with that issue before Shaw and his England teammates depart for Brazil.

The 18-year-old will likely miss out on England's match against Peru tonight at Wembley, due to a cold.

I don't think any of Kruegar's statement about no players leaving is having the desired affect of the Media or other clubs. Why say it if you don't mean it. Why not say there are ongoing negotiations with a few players who will be leaving the club but this will allow the new manager a sizeable war chest to bring in some new high quality players.

I don't want to believe these stories of players leaving as I want the new manager to stamp his authority on the squad. We don't need to sell so lets show everyone that we won't unless we want to.

I'm not sure it's having the desired effect on Ralph Krueger either - can somebody tell his mouth to memo his brain please because the two clearly aren't working together at the moment.

Or at least get him to drop a line to Les Reed. The guy must have been lonely because he seems to like getting phone calls.

Everyone deep down knew Luke would be out the door if the price is right, Ricky was a shock but still good business I think. Both these deal work for all parties but anymore out the door and I’m pushing the panic button!

It is worrying that if any of these go through before a new man is at the helm then it’s going to be hard to trust anything the board tells us in future. If it’s just the two out the door I can live with that.

I don’t think I’ve known a summer where almost every player at one club has been linked with a move away, something doesn’t seem right, but most people I’ve spoken to or read up on seem confident we will be fine, wish I could share their confidence, #neveradullmomentont

I am getting pig sick of hearing one thing and then hearing something that totally contradicts what has just been said. Are we having talks with Liverpool ref SRL and also ref Luke to Manure or aren't we. If we are, then have we got a new manager already and he has given the go ahead? aaarrrggghhhh!
We need/want KL to start communicating with the fans to give us some clear facts, no more bullsh*t.
If you are planning to strip our assets and sell the club then tell us. If you are right behind the club in getting us higher up the table, then tell us. We turn up in our thousands to watch the team we love, play in the best league in the world, but the way you and your board are acting right now, we will be back in the championship trying to rebuild.
Please instil in confidence and get us all back on board by showing what our next 5 year or however long the plan, might be is.

Why negotiate, tell me to do one 60 million or nothing

Either with a great new manager and good signings we push on up the league the southampton way or we will be accepting mid table mediocrity

MP was never going to stay. the moment NC threw his toys out of the pram MP was gone. the only reason he stayed was because he didn't want to pay the £2mill himself and waited for a team to come in for him so that they would pay it. look at MP before and after NC left, he was a different manager and that's clear to see now looking back at it.
the board offered MP a good deal (apparently more than spuds) they offered assurances that no player would come in or leave without his say so (wont get that control at spuds) and by all accounts offered a good transfer kitty as well, even KL got in on the negotiations. MP though was stringing us along, we weren't going to sack him (although NC wanted to but was convinced not to by the players) because not only would the fans be in uproar but they didn't want to pay him any compensation.
you can blame the board all you like for MP leaving but its M`s decision and there was nothing the board could have done to stop him.
think about it, how long did MP `negotiate` with us and how long did he negotiate with spuds!

Saints fan for 35 years here, we have been through this many times before and have survived. Players come and go, fact.

Besides Rickie, who else has been sold? No one. This is all just newspaper talk.

People CALM DOWN.

Rickie did us proud, he guided us to the promised land, he's off home, let him go and thank him. All of you in his situation would do exactly what he is doing, last chance to play for his boyhood team. We move on, end of an era.

Maybe a new manager will be in next week, then he will decide what to do, we have ZERO idea what is going on behinds the scenes and if Shaw and Adam go, because they want to go, then we let them go, bank the cash, and let the new manager invest.

Everyone was up in arms when Adkins got fired, now look what is going on, sound familiar?

I predict, this time next year we will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Take a deep breath everyone.

I don't understand why he would lie though what does he have to gain. It's all very odd. The only thing I understand is that I can't understand what is going on with this new board. Surely if KL does want to sell you sell with your best players still at the club. The only other thing I know is that my trust of this board has gone and can not and will not be re-established no matter what they do.

Tell the mancs to p!ss off and don't bother making contact until a cheque for 40 million is on the table and anyone who wants Adam the same END OF
i'd not even sell for £40m but sadly this board probably will accept any offer. I was happier yesterday then today it dawned on me that I fell for Kruegers lies.
Heavens, I said all this about the board a few weeks and got flack.
