Manchester United are today expected to try and resume talks with Saints over the potential transfer of starlet Luke Shaw.
A bid in the region of £27m is believed to have already been turned down by the board at St Mary's, but United are keen to land the left-back as part of the major surgery to their squad this summer.
United would like a deal to be concluded before the World Cup, although Saints want to wait until the tournament is over and they have a new manager in place before proceeding with anything.
Rickie Lambert's expected transfer to Liverpool this weekend has heightened United's hopes that they could also quickly complete a move for Shaw.
However, Saints are understood to feel under less pressure to deal with that issue before Shaw and his England teammates depart for Brazil.
The 18-year-old will likely miss out on England's match against Peru tonight at Wembley, due to a cold.
