BASINGSTOKE Town Colts under-15s have achieved a unique treble this season – winning the Hampshire Cup, North East Hants Youth League Premier Divison and the NEHY League Cup.

The first leg of their terrific treble started with a 3-2 victory over Salisbury Youth in the Hampshire Cup final as they retained the trophy.

Captain George Smith lifted the trophy after the Colts’ goals came from Aaron Hillier, Josh Kelly and man-of-the-match Jayden Lawson.

Basingstoke then clinched the league crown with a perfect record after 14 games which saw them score 73 goals, of which top scorer Hillier accounted for 41. Only 15 were conceded.

The treble was completed with a 3-1 victory in the League Cup over Hook United.

George Smith, with a fantastic header, scored the only goal of the first half. The win was completed thanks to strikes from Aaron Nesbeth and Jonny Hathaway. The Colts’ man-of-the-match was their captain, Jordan Mooney.

To reach the final, Basingstoke beat Eversley and California 13-0, North Warnborough 4-3 and Pinewood Pumas 3-0 in the semi-final.

Basingstoke finished their season hoping to clinch a fourth trophy against Windsor Ospreys in the Slough and Windsor Open Challenge.

The Colts had already beaten Slough Town 3-0 in the semi-final, after Smith struck a hat-trick. However, in the final, Basingstoke went down 1-0 to the Berks and Bucks champions in a very tight game.

They conceded the winning goal with five minutes to go after goalkeeper Nathan Dow suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital.

He was allowed home later the same evening.
