BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald travelled all the way to Northumberland to play in The Dawson and Sanderson Travel Classic – only to miss the cut by one shot.

Archibald made the long trek to Longhirst Hall for the EuroPro Tour event, but rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+3) resulted in him missing the cut by the smallest of margins.

The 29-year-old has good memories of Longhirst Hall, having won there in 2010, but he was unable to force his way into contention this time around.

He got off to a terrible start and was four-over-par after eight holes. He recovered with birdies at holes nine, 10 and 13, but a bogey at the last saw Archibald card a two-over-par round of 74.

He was unable to improve on day two, failing to record any birdies as he recorded a three-over-par total of 75 to miss the cut by one shot.

Archibald is in EuroPro Tour action much closer to home this week, competing at The Kerry London Championship, which gets under way at Burhill Golf Club, in Surrey, today.
