BASINGSTOKE and Mid Hants athletes won an impressive 58 medals at the Hampshire Track and Field Championships last weekend.

The club now boasts 27 Hampshire champions, with four of the athletes breaking championship records on their way to victory.

All-rounder Devon Brimecome has an especially good couple of days, winning five medals, claiming two county titles and setting a new championship record.

The under-17 romped to victory in the 300m hurdles in a new championship record of 44.32sec, while she also won the long jump and picked up silver medals in the 200m, high jump and 80m hurdles.

Ben Pattison, Harry Richardson and Gemma Wildash also caused championship records to fall.

Pattison’s time of 2min 10.80sec beat the previous mark in the under-13 800m, with Richardson doing the same in the under-15 event, clocking 2:03:80. Wildash set a new best in the under-20 2,000m steeplechase, winning in 8:01.64.

Pattison and Wildash went on to claim further titles. Pattison showed that he has speed as well as endurance by adding the 100m gold to his 800m title, while Wildash also came out on top in the 3,000m.

Other double winners were Lucy Wildash, who won the under-17 800m and 1,500m, Gemma Finch, who was victorious in the under-20 high jump and long jump, and the Richardson brothers. Myles Richardson won the under-20 100m and 200m, while younger brother Owen continued his fine season by completing the 200m and 400m double in the under-17 age-group.

It was also a good meeting for the Edwards sisters, with Catherine winning the under-13 200m and older sister Mair winning the same event for under-15s.

The other Basingstoke winners were Lucy Bomphrey (under-17 200m), Kieran Showler-Davis (senior 200m), Andy Blow (senior 110m hurdles), Charlie Sheridan (under-17 800m), Dave Ragan (senior 1,500m), Amelia Cook (under-15 high jump), Malachi Gair (under-15 high jump), Tobin Hatton-Brown (under-20 javelin) and Joe Flitcroft (senior hammer).
