SILCHESTER bowler Lee Jones enjoyed a day to remember on Saturday, taking an incredible eight wickets for the concession of just two runs as visiting Overton III were dismissed for just 12.

The left-arm seam bowler bowled 8.1 overs for his outstanding haul, rattling off seven maidens and decimating the Overton batting line-up. Silchester then chased down their meagre target without loss, completing a 10-wicket thrashing in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division Three North East.

Ramsdell II also enjoyed a big win, beating hosts Hartley Wintney III by eight wickets. David Cook took 5-22 and Gary Prickett 3-20 as Hartley were dismissed for 55, a total that Ramsdell surpassed for the loss of just two wickets.

Overton II enjoyed a much better day than their third string, winning by five wickets at Aldershot IV. The hosts were dismissed for just 43, with Overton getting home for the loss of five wickets.

It was not such a good day for Basingstoke and North Hants V, Old Basing III and Herriard II, who all lost. Herriard were bowled out for 90 and lost by three wickets at home to Aldershot V, while Basingstoke dismissed Compton and Chandler’s Ford III for 137 but were then bowled out for 97 to lose by 40 runs.

Easton and Martyr Worthy II smashed their way to 231-4 at home to Old Basing and, while Simon Bishop hit 81, the visitors could only reach 159-9, losing by 72 runs.

Kingsclere secured a 10-wicket victory over local rivals Ramsdell in Regional Division One North. Chris Hanney took 4-11 and Ollie Browning 3-13 as visiting Ramsdell were dismissed for 81, a total the Kingsclere openers knocked off.

Ashford Hill bowled visiting Over Wallop out for 145, with Mark Williamson and Pete Newton both taking three wickets. Peter Brown and Mike Softley both made 60 as the home side won by eight wickets.

Alex Yeates and Jon Bennett both made half-centuries as Basingstoke and North Hants IV made 242-8 at home to Farley. Derek Dicker and Ashley Neal then took three wickets each as the visitors were restricted to 219-8, giving Basingstoke a 23-run win.

Gareth Cloutt took 4-25 as Herriard restricted hosts Longparish to 169-5 before going on to win by three wickets, while Phillip Thomas and Becky Hartnett both took three wickets as Odiham and Greywell dismissed St Mary Bourne for 93, going on to win by six wickets.

Scott Bright made 61 as Oakley reached 239 at home to Shrewton II. The visitors were then bowled out for 149, with Tom Holbrook taking 4-35 and Mark Potter 3-30.

Steve Dummer hit 73 as Sherfield on Loddon made 268-8 against visiting Littleton and West Hill II. Simon Grant then took 5-44 as Sherfield restricted their opponents to 143-9 to win by 125 runs.

Old Basing II suffered a 95-run defeat at home to Bentworth, being bowled out for 72 chasing the visitors’ total of 167.

Odiham and Greywell II claimed a five-wicket win over Andover IV in Regional Division Two North after the visitors were bowled out for 141, with Russell Henley taking 4-20 and Chris Wiltshire 3-26.

Ian Finlayson and Paul Buckingham both made half-centuries as Rotherwick ITW reached 209-4 at Michelmersh and Timsbury II, with Adam Cordery taking 3-35 as the hosts were dismissed for 172.

St Mary’s suffered a three-wicket defeat at home to Hawkley. They were dismissed for 185 and while Raj Makkunari took 4-38, Hawkley got over the line with seven wickets down.

Andy Stenning smashed an unbeaten 104, putting on 172 with Liam Schooling (53) as Odiham and Greywell III beat AWE Tadley II by 99 runs in Regional Division Four North East. The visitors made 236-3 before restricting Tadley to 137-8, Kerry Hartnett taking 5-41.

Dan Summer took 4-30 and Lance Van Dyke chipped in with three wickets as Oakley II dismissed hosts Herriard III for 85, going on to win by eight wickets.

Ashford Hill II beat hosts Longparish II by 34 runs, making 175-5 before dismissing the home side for 141, with Mark Ridley taking 5-21.
