Saints trio head off on England training camp

Basingstoke Gazette: Rickie Lambert Rickie Lambert

Saints trio Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw today jet off with England for the team’s training camp in Portugal.

Roy Hodgson is taking his men on a five-day trip to Vale de Lobo, as they begin their World Cup preparations.

They depart after a charity fund-raising ball at their Grove Hotel base in Hertfordshire last night.

England’s first warm-up match takes place against Peru, at Wembley, on Friday, May 30.

The squad then travels to Miami for another camp, where they will play friendly games against Ecuador and Honduras.

Maybe it's something to do with the heat as it's going to be pretty warm in Brazil
Before you say it's pretty warm here, this trip would have been planned weeks ago!

It's because they speak Portuguese in Brazil, so the players are on a crash course.

I can remember how proud we all were when Terry Paine made the squad back in 66, but now there are "three" players in that very squad and could have been even more !! it proves what a fantastic team spirit there must be in that dressing room and what a shame it would be to break it up, as three more top class players added would for sure see Saints in one of the top spots, there is absolutely no doubt about that.
Just think about it, what rights have the "so called top clubs" have to occupy those positions ? when if we keep going as we are it could be THE SAINTS.

The fact all three have gone off and are still Saints players says something about the way the board is fending off bids and boxing very smartly. Some people are complaining about a "deafening wall of silence" but I think it's completely normal not to make comments until negotiations have come to some sort of conclusion.

So far so good.

Well you can be sure the Liverpool and Man Utd squad members will be "selling" their club to Luke and Adam, maybe lightheartedly, maybe not, which is completely understandable, but I would guess our three will back each other up and not be swayed.

From the England camp is where we will see a lot of rumours flying around again as players from other clubs leak to the press, or their agents will.

During training.
Shrek. "Hey Adam, you need to forget all that Liverpuddle transfer talk and come to us instead"
Adam. "Don't be daft Shrek. Don't you remember our manager saying how good looking we Saints are? I mean have you looked in the mirror lately? You're sooooooo ugly and thick too"
Stevie G. " Yeah too right Adam. Haven't you already signed for us anyway?
Adam. " Don't be stupid Stevie. Last time I went to Liverpool I had my wheels nicked and I only parked for 20 seconds. Anyway you've still got that goofy guy haven't you. He's sooooooo ugly too isn't he. Just wouldn't be good for my image would it cos I'm sooooooo handsome, just like the rest of my team mates. Think I'll just stay at Saints and finish above you both next season. I mean both you and Shrek are getting on a bit now and well past your best.

Did anyone else see those tw*ts at the Daily Star, with a photo-shop mockup of Adam Llalana in a Liverpool shirt? Although the paper is so sh1te that it's about as much of a statement as me giving up marmite for lent ....
