Old Basing and Stratfield progress in Guy Jewell Cup
OLD Basing and Stratfield Turgis booked their places in the second round of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup after victories this week.
Old Basing beat Sherfield-on-Loddon by 45 runs, while Stratfield Turgis enjoyed a 71-run success over Rotherwick ITW.
Next week’s games in the competition at May’s Bounty will see Ropley face Rotherfield Park on Monday and then the following evening, Basingstoke Hockey Club battle it out with Chineham RFC.
Results: Old Basing 136-9 (D Turner, A Byett 33 S Grant 3-22, J Hooper 3-32), Sherfield-on-Loddon 81-6 (S Grant 31no, D Gary 3-28).
Stratfield Turgis 156-3 (C Butcher 64, D Murray 36), Rotherwick ITW 85-6.
