HARTLEY Wintney looked in a strong position when rain stopped play at home against Rowledge after 22 overs last Saturday.

At this point the home side had the visitors reeling at 85-5 with Tommy Flanders leading the way with a couple of wickets.

Captain Jamie Teale said: “I was really pleased with the way things were going as they got off to a good start and were 54-1, but we got amongst them and I felt we would have rolled them over for 150 as we were already into the tail.”

It was another encouraging performance, but this weekend Hartley will travel to Langley Manor minus unavailable captain Teale and vice captain Matt Digweed unavailable, so Jack Cockram is expected to skipper the side.

Teale said: “No one has ever played at Langley Manor so this is a journey into the unknown. I am disappointed I cannot lead the team in their first away game of the season, but I have work commitments with the MCC which for this weekend clash.”

Teale said: “In our first home game we were narrowly beaten and against Rowledge we were in a strong position, so I am sure the guys who take to the field on Saturday will do a good job for us.”
