CAPTAIN fantastic Nicky Chinn has re-signed for Basingstoke Bison and is ready to lift some more trophies for the Herd this coming season.

The experienced forward is back for a fifth campaign with the Bison and will once again be their captain.

Having been part of many winning teams during his career, Chinn admitted he really enjoyed last season as he lifted the English Premier League play-off trophy and EPL Cup for the Bison.

Chinn said: “It was certainly up there as one of the best seasons of my career.

“I always wanted to win a trophy in Basingstoke and I think it was great doing it in what was an anniversary season. Now it would be nice to win the league.”

Chinn, who is predominately a playmaker, scored eight goals and picked up 36 assists in a 44-point haul last season.

For the forthcoming season, he will once again link up with already-signed forwards Aaron Connolly and Joe Rand to form one of what will be one of three solid scoring lines for the Bison.

Chinn is looking forward to being reunited with his line mates and said: “We definitely clicked last season and both of them are good up and down players. It is always great to play on a line with some chemistry.”

He added: “It is an honour to be the captain again and it is not the easiest job, but one I enjoy, especially being able to pass on my knowledge to the younger players on the team.”

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard is pleased to have his captain back for another campaign and said: “I felt Nicky had a very good year for us. He is a smart player who fits in well with the way we play.

“He is a leader both on and off the ice and wants to win trophies, so is a great guy to have around the dressing room.”

He added: “I will start him on the line with Joe Rand and Aaron Connolly as they worked really well in the play-offs.

“Nicky was great on this line, getting the puck to the other two guys. I look forward to seeing them in action again.”
