Adam Lallana’s brilliant year was topped off with a final piece of silverware when he was voted runaway winner of the Daily Echo’s Player of the Season award.
The famous old trophy, the longest running fan’s vote at the club, has seen the likes of Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton and Matt Le Tissier etched upon it.
The poll is for the club’s fans and again there was a bumper number of votes cast. However, the competition for first place was not even close. Lallana polled just short of 50 per cent of the total vote to be a clear winner.
There was a bit of a shock below that though with Jack Cork coming in second with 12.3 per cent of the vote, despite only playing about half the season. Third place went to Jay Rodriguez, who just edged ahead of Rickie Lambert.
