ODIHAM and Greywell III got their Hampshire League Regional Division Four North East campaign off to a fine start, thrashing hosts Ashford Hill II by nine wickets.
Kerry Hartnett took 4-34 as the visitors dismissed Ashford Hill for just 95, a total that Odiham knocked off for the loss of just one wicket.
Oakley II also claimed an opening-day victory, beating visiting Longparish III by 54 runs. The hosts reached 226-5 in their innings before bowling Longparish out for 172.
It was not such a good day for Herriard III, who lost by four wickets away at Hungerford II. Wayne Good top-scored with 25 as the visitors were dismissed for 122 and, while Darren Minton took 3-27, Hungerford knocked off the runs they needed to win.
Whitchurch II were awarded an opening-day victory after Crown Taverners II were unable to raise a team.
