PAST legends of the Basingstoke Bison, plus a number of the Herd’s double-winning side, will be in action in a special charity memorial match on Saturday (face-off 5pm) at the Basingstoke Arena.

The game is being played in memory of John Summerbell, a popular player with the Basingstoke Raptors, a mixed recrea-tional ice hockey team.

Summerbell lost his battle with cancer earlier this year and the game is raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The Raptors will face a side called the Summerbell Select, made up of Bison legends Tony Redmond and Steve Moria, along with the likes of Joe Miller, Nicky Chinn, Stuart Mogg and Connor Standing.

Admission to the game is free of charge, but spectators are asked to put a couple of pounds into the collection buckets.

There will also be lots of great raffle prizes on the evening, including a signed Bison shirt and a chance to win a shirt off the player’s back in a silent shirt auction.

There is an online page for donations at justgiving.com/johnsummerbell-memorial match.
