BASINGSTOKE tumbler Yasmin Taite helped Great Britain to gold at the European Championships in Guimaraes, Portugal.

The 17-year-old, who trains at Pinewood Gym Club, was competing in her first senior competition and was one of the youngest in the field.

In the qualifying competition, all four British women in the team helped GB to first place, a full four points ahead of Russia and Ukraine.

In the final, Taite was the first to go and she scored a personal best with a fantastic transition to double pike ending.

This set the tone for the rest of the competition, which saw Great Britain take the gold.
