TOTALLY Tennis performance players Liam Hignett and Miles Bromilow have both been selected to represent Hampshire’s under-14 County Cup team in Sutton this weekend.

They are two of six players selected for the tournament, in which Hampshire are in Group E and face the Channel Islands, Devon, Dorset, Sussex and Somerset in their group.

Head coach James Mcintosh said: “Both Liam and Miles’ hard work in training and competitions has been rewarded by being selected for the under-14 team.

“The boys had to attend two training sessions with other players in their age group and from those training sessions, the team was selected.”

He added: “It’s a great opportunity for both boys to be part of the team.

“County Cup is always an enjoyable weekend for the players and there is a good atmosphere and team spirit.”

Keeping it in the family, mini performance player Isla Hignett has also been selected as a travelling reserve to represent the county as part of the girls’ under-10 Hampshire County Cup team.

The reserves are not guaranteed matches but it is still a great achievement to be selected as part of the team and Isla could feature if one of the other girls in unable to play.

The girls will face Dorset, Kent, Sussex and Surrey in Brighton over the weekend of May 31 and June 1.

On the same weekend in Bromley, teammate Aaron Dawson will represent Hampshire in an under-10 competition.

The event will see Dawson and his team-mates take on Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
