Pochettino silent on Adam Lallana's Saints future
5:00am Monday 28th April 2014 in Sport
Lallana, who impressed again in front of England boss Roy Hodgson and looks increasingly likely to make the World Cup squad, has been heavily linked with a big money move to Manchester United.
When asked about his future following the Everton game, Lallana – linked with a host of top clubs – said: “I just want to concentrate on the last two games of the season and then we'll sit down in the summer and see what happens.
“I just want to enjoy my football, that's when I'm at my happiest - when I'm playing well.
“Playing in a great youthful team like this, I feel like one of the experienced players nowadays.”
Pochettino was asked about Lallana but didn’t feel the time was right to talk about it.
“I don’t really think it’s the right moment right now to be talking about the future,” said Pochettino.
“We have just won a game 2-0 and we should be talking about that.
“When we lose we spend an hour talking about how we’ve lost and now we’ve won and we want to enjoy this moment.
“I want to congratulate the players for what they’ve done and just overall feel joy and feel happy and feel satisfied at the victory.”
Saints’ victory over Everton took them to 52 points, which levels the tally they achieved when bagging a Premier League era best placed finish of eighth in 2003.
“I thought overall we need to congratulate the players and all the staff because we have equalled the maximum number of points this club has achieved in the Premier League and that takes an amazing achievement,” reflected Pochettino.
“I’m just really happy for the players and everyone involved with this club. It’s also true that we still have two games and why not try to get two more victories out of these two games? That’s what we want to do.
“In the overall analysis of the season we are having a fantastic season and we are very pleased with how the season has gone.”
