BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies took a big step towards safety with a 4-1 victory over visiting Gosport Borough Ladies at Winklebury on Sunday.

Josette Pearmine gave Town the lead with an excellent strike from 30 yards after 10 minutes, while further goals from Carla Mitchell and Katie Randell had them three ahead at the break.

Sian Wylie made it 4-0 with five minutes left, before Gosport pulled one goal back in the final minute.

The result lifted Town up to sixth in the Southern League Premier table, four points above the bottom three. They are next in action on May 4, when bottom side Andover New Street Ladies visit Winklebury.
