BASINGSTOKE’S young table tennis star Amy Blagbrough helped Hampshire win promotion into the Premier Division of the County Cadet competition.
The Hampshire team of five was made up of Aldworth’s Blagbrough, New Milton’s Matthew Daish, Totton’s Artur Caltabiano and Fareham pair Jonathan McMullan and Katie Holt.
The last round of the competition was at Waterside Table Tennis Club and they led Glamorgan and Gloucestershire by two points.
Fresh in the memory for the Hampshire players was the fact they finished runners-up last season and missed out on promotion by a couple of points.
This gave them even more desire to win and they turned on the style as they beat Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire, before thumping Worces-tershire 10-0.
Even more impressive was the face that not one Hampshire player dropped a single set.
