Manchester United are confident they will sign Luke Shaw, according to The Guardian.
The newspaper has reported that a £30m deal to buy Shaw on a £100,000 a-week salary is virtually complete.
Shaw,18, is reported to have been offered a five-year contract, which dwarfs what Chelsea were willing to pay.
But at the end of last week, Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino responded to rumours of managerless United's interest by saying: "Luke Shaw is a player that belongs to Southampton and it will be the club, Southampton, that makes the decision as to what happens to his future.
“Of course there will be interest in him but right now he is a player at Southampton and it looks like it will be continuing that way.”
