AN ALEX Jupp wonder-goal earned Overton United a 2-1 victory away at Otterbourne in the Hampshire Premier League on Monday.

The scores were tied with 25 minutes of the game remaining when the ball dropped to Jupp 30 yards from goal. He let fly on the half-volley, finding the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Jupp had given the visitors the lead on the half-hour, firing through a crowd of players from a corner. Otterbourne levelled with 60 minutes gone after Overton failed to deal with a long throw, but Jupp’s stunning goal sealed the win five minutes later.

Two days earlier, Overton were beaten 5-1 at home by champions-elect Baffins Milton Rovers. The visitors only led 1-0 at the break but scored twice more in the early stages of the second half.

Overton pulled one back through Chris Lavisher on the hour but Baffins scored twice more to run out comfortable winners.

Titch Bloomfield’s men sit sixth in the table but face a tough test on Saturday, travelling to high-flying Locks Heath.
