Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed Saints chairman Ralph Krueger’s message that no key players need to be sold this summer.

With speculation continuing as to Pochettino’s own future, one major plus for the club is the assurance that Krueger has publically given.

Pochettino was happy to hear such strong words and feels it is vital for the club.

“It’s clear that for any team not just Southampton Football Club it’s very good that you get assurance for the future,” said the Saints boss.

“When you have in place a structure as we do at Southampton Football Club it’s important to get those assurances that we are going to keep important players and that’s always the case in any club.

“It’s important to keep on growing in the future and to look to the future in an optimistic way, to know that we are going to do well in the future as well, not just to keep your important players but also to add players that can provide a very good stability for the team. Of course it’s very good news.”

It was RUMOURED that Agents contacted Adam in the last transfer window and offered to DOUBLE ... TRIPLE his wages. He turned them down flat for 2 reasons
1/ He has just got married and had become a father and was very happy living on the edge of the New Forest.
2/ He enjoyed working with Mauricio (who has made him 15% to 20% better as a player) and the other club had a "joke" of a Manager who would offer nothing in improving him as a player.
They went out and purchased mata the following week.

Spot on!

Matt is obviously appreciated more here than he would have been at a bigger club, where he would have been just another one of the many, many top players to have been bought to more or less buy trophies.

Our current Saints have a great opportunity to participate in something special with Southampton FC, where both the club and many of its players are being well and truly noticed in the world of football. Our academy continues to produce great youngsters, but now without the financial need for our best young players to be sold. The quality of our squad therefore continues to improve, sometimes helped by the purchase of players.

The fact that so many Saints players have stated publicly that they want Mauricio to stay at the club points to those players also wanting to remain here.

Newspaper speculation is only to be expected about the future of Mauricio and many of his players. It is only speculation right now because this isn't yet the time of year when players are normally bought or sold. If we were to believe all the media hype, half our first team squad will be sold this summer. I don't believe any of it!

The fact is that Saints have every intention of keeping our best players. Perhaps if another club offers a ridiculously high transfer fee for one of our best

Continuation . . . . . . .

players, Saints might so that player, but I think that would be so that the money could be used to buy a couple of players to strengthen our squad.

I think we can trust the club to do the right thing to keep the progress going.

Onward and upward, the Southampton Way!!!

Costa Baz says...

Good move by Krueger, to get the fans on board.
Obviously, it would be a bad move to indicate publicly, what size transfer budget will be available, but discussing that with MP should be his next move, whilst waving a new contract in front of him.
Having read the interview he gave to the Guardian, I'm wondering if his "very, very strong links" to Credit Suisse, UBS and Nestlé, may open the door to a generous sponsorship deal, or two - shirt and stadium naming rights.
Did he not say, a few weeks back, that he had already had discussions with 3 potential partners?

Lallana is our Gerrard.

And one day, like Gerrard, he could be at the heart of a magical moment for Saints.

I hope Shaw stays, but his heart seems to be with Chelsea, and the heart can't be easily governed.

Personally, if Shaw does go, I'd like to see Clyne he a good long run at left back. He did a storming job there at the start of the season when called upon.

I would take £25 million for Shaw. His crossing of the ball is rather shocking which was evident against Cardiff.

Good job you aren't a Saints Manager then isn't it? Not much wrong with his crossing, he didn't have much to aim at and those dozy Welshmen kept getting the way.

Gareth Bale wasn't exactly "the real dusted deal and all he's cracked up to be" player when we sold him. Now, look at him!
