BASINGSTOKE and Mid Hants AC had 14 runners at the London Marathon last Sunday, and some remarkable performances were achieved.
The first home was Dave Meacock as he smashed his previous marathon personal best, and finished in a time of 2hr 33min 54sec.
This placed him as 70th male runner overall. The first lady home for the club was Rebecca Jakeman in 3:25.44.
The Bigg family – John (3:43.24) and daughter Gemma (3:42.12) – finished almost together after pacing each other.
Gemma Bigg, who is in her first year at university, achieved a time faster than the Good For Age status time of 3:45:00, and automatically qualifies for next year’s race.
Husband and wife Craig and Carol Wadeson both ran, with Carol (4:10.90) showing Craig (4:59.40) a clean pair of heels Peter Grigoleit was the official 4:45.00 pacemaker at the marathon.
