AS THE season draws to a close, the final couple of months have seen a lot of teams playing three or four games in seven days.

This is a huge ask at this level and there have been several games where the volume of matches looks like it has taken its toll. With little opportunity to train or rest between games, minor knocks can result in players missing several fixtures.

I think we are all disappointed with the way the season has finished. For long periods, we were there or thereabouts in the hunt for the play-offs but we came up short when we got to the business end of the season.

We all need to assess and look hard at areas we need to improve on, study where other teams have had success and make sure we put things right for next season.

Once again, we can learn from our mistakes and shortfalls and use them to make us better.

We face a tough trip to Eastleigh, who will be crowned champions unless we beat them on Friday, before hosting Weston-super-Mare and Concord Rangers on Monday and Wednesday.

We don’t have a great record against Weston, who play some fantastic stuff when they are on their game. They can frustrate you by keeping the ball and it will be another hard game.

Concord are another physical side, who could still be in the hunt for the play-offs when they visit us, so that will be a tricky fixture as well.

We face Staines on the last day of the season, before having a two-week break to recover and prepare for the Hampshire Senior Cup final.

I hope to see as many of you there as possible as we try to reward your patience and fantastic support this season by winning a trophy.
